Operation Turnout Education

Do you know where you go to vote in Lexington, KY? Click on the link below just to be sure:

Kentucky: Voter Information-Where do I vote?

What type of Identification do I need when I vote???

All voters must produce identification or be known by a precinct officer prior to voting. KRS117.227 and 31 KAR 4:010 provide the types of ID that can be used by the voter such as: Personal acquaintance of precinct officer, Driver’s license, Social Security card, credit card, or another form of ID containing both picture and signature.

Operation Turnout was started on August 21, 2010 at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Lexington, KY because a group of minority citizens recognized that there has clearly been a  basic lack of appreciation for our Civil Rights, a common disregard for our many contributions to the welfare of this Commonwealth and a failure, up to this point, to speak out against social injustice in Central Kentucky.

Thus, our mission is to engage the minority population of Central Kentucky in the political process,  like never before, through voter registration and commitment, voter education and voter turnout initiatives.

A number of groups have done an admirable job of doing some of the things mentioned in our mission statement for many years.  However, prior to Operation Turnout, there was not an initiative that consolidated the efforts of Churches, the NAACP, Greek Letter Organizations and other community groups in order to ensure that our voices can be heard.

The work that we are doing leading up to the upcoming 2010 election is merely the beginning of a process that will ultimately transform how minority voters, and citizens for that matter, are viewed throughout the Commonwealth of Kentucky!

There are numerous ways that you and/or your organization can be of great assistance to our efforts.  To learn more about us, visit our website at www.OperationTurnout.weebly.com or our Facebook community page entitled “Operation Turnout.”

For many years we have been complacent, but the time to make a change for our community is now!
